Where do we travel?

The locations of the conferences we travel to are located in the semester calendar on our website. In addition to our competitive travel conferences, one travel opportunity is guaranteed a semester. These opportunities include BeachMUN, our large training conference in the fall in Daytona, as well as SUNMUN, the colligate conference that our team is hosting in Orlando, Florida in the spring. What is the travel selection process?

Delegates are chosen to Travel for the UF team by a vote from the Executive Board at the meeting immeadiately following the closing of applications. While this vote is subject to individual biases, we make sure to take into account all factors. Things like regularly attending socials, simulations, the applications, GBM's, communicating with the Executive Board when you are missing, and leadership roles in the club are taken into account, alongside application materials. Newcomers and Regulars are welcome to apply, but only one travel opportunity a semester is guarenteed due to travel costs and variable factors.

What are the logistics of travel?

Our travel plans are highly dependent on the location of the conference. Some conferences require a plane to travel, while some require long or short car rides. The plane ticket and hotel costs are included in the initial payment that individuals make before the beginning of the trip. These prices can range anywhere from 20 dollars to 250 dollars depending on travel expenses. Our Director of Conference Logistics (Noelle Matthias) creates a comprehensive document that provides extensive information on conference and travel itinerary. This will be given to each member traveling. Communication between traveling members will occur via Facebook Messenger from a private UF MUN page which entry will be given upon acceptance to each travel oppurtunity.
